Day 7 - Physical Acts of Confidence

Confidence is a tricky thing. It takes daily practice to build confidence. And sometimes it's difficult to know where to start. In the first 6 days of this challenge, I've given you a lot of reflection and behavior-oriented exercises. Well, today, we're getting physical. But, before you get nervous, let me lay this out for you!

Sometimes the biggest challenge in confidence is doing something with your body that you're not 100% sure it can do. But that's why it's a challenge! So, today I want you to decide on a physical act of confidence.

When I was first presented with doing something like this, admittedly, I stalled for about 6 months. I know, I know. I'm bummed too. At the time, not only could I not think of something to do, but I was petrified of trying something new. Admittedly, it had been a long time. Then, finally, I came up with an idea. An aerial class! I have a friend that is an aerialist. I'd gone to watch her perform and was completely blown away by the things that these people could do! They did trapeze work, silks, and all sorts of other apparatuses that I didn't even know the names for! I remember thinking how incredibly strong and graceful these people were! So, when my friend mentioned that there was the opportunity to take an aerial sampler class, I realized that was my physical challenge. 

It was awkward, it was challenging, and there were certain things that I just couldn't wrap my brain around how to do. But damn was it fun! And you know what was even cooler? Within a couple months of that, I had signed up for my first half marathon and then my first Tough Mudder. And then my second half marathon! Needless to say, the floodgates had been opened!
So today, I want you to sit down and brainstorm what is a physical challenge that you could sign up to do? Pole dancing? (Haha there I go again) Rock climbing? An obstacle course race? A 5k? A marathon? Your own aerial class? Write down as many things as you can think of.

And here's the kicker. By the end of the week, sign up for one of those things! You heard me. I want you to SIGN UP. Don't think that you can skip this step, because I'm going to follow-up with you and guilt trip you to make sure you did. Because what are coaches for if not acocuntability?
