Beyonce has Sasha Fierce, her feisty, diva alter ego. Superman had Clark Kent. There are all sorts of examples throughout pop culture of people taking on "alter egos" to help them embody new, diverse, and sometimes opposing characteristics! You can do the same thing to help you build your confidence.

Start by defining all the characteristics you would want this character to embody. Are they feisty where you're subdued? Confident where you're shy? Unapologetic where you find yourself seeking approval? A kickass dancer whereas you're a wallflower? Whatever! Define what characteristics this person has and then take it a step further. What behaviors do they engage in? As you get more elaborate, your alter ego may develop a name and a persona. 

Then, here's the kicker. Whenever you find yourself lacking confidence, think of your alter ego. Embody that alter ego. You're not longer you. You have now become that person. Use all the characteristics and behaviors that you've outlined and embody this person and through embodying this alter ego, help yourself to work through your confidence!
