Developing a Confidence Vision
Whether you struggle with social confidence, your knowledge, your abilities or your appearance body image, clarity breeds confidence. Oftentimes, we struggle with confidence because we have no concept of what our ideal is. We say we want more confidence, but what does that mean?
We did this a little bit your training about defining what confidence is for you. But now we're going to take it a step further.
In lesson 2.1, we talked about the 4 types of confidence. I asked you in that activity to rate yourself on each of the 4 areas to help nail down which one you showed start focusing on. I also asked you to find some resources to help you improve your confidence in that area. Today, I want you to take that a step version. I want you to create a vision for what your ideal self, your perfect vision looks like in this area.
If you struggle with social confidence, ideally in the future, what do you want future you to look like in social situations? How do you want to feel going into and coming out of social situations? How do you want others to feel after interacting with you?
If you struggle with your knowledge and having confidence in what you know, how do you want to feel in the future? How do you want to feel when someone asks your opinion? How do you want to feel when you have something to say at work? What will you do? How will you act? Paint that picture for yourself.
If you struggle with having confidence in your ability, what do you want to feel like? How do you want to enter each and ever new situation? How do you want to act? How do you want to come across to other people in this situation?
And lastly, if you struggle with your appearance and body image, how do you want to feel? When you look in the mirror, what do you want to see? And I'm not talking what size you want to be or what muscles you want to have. How do you want to feel about yourself? When you put on new clothes in the dressing room or get ready for a night out, how do you want to feel? What about day-to-day? How do you want to feel? How do you want to act?
Write it down. Create a vivid vision for your ideal, perfect future when it comes to developing confidence in this aspect of your life. Get detailed. Get vivid. Paint a complete picture and leave no detail unaddressed. That kind of clarity will do nothing but help you on your journey!
